How the Award Works
Children in years 5, 6 and 7 will be invited to nominate through the website any book which they think best fits the award criteria. Once the nomination period ends, all eligible books will be whittled down by a panel of judges into a final shortlist. Schools will then have the opportunity to take part in book groups to discuss and review the shortlisted titles. Children can then pick their favourite book and vote for it through the website. The winner from these votes will be announced at the award ceremony at the Guille-Allès Library in Guernsey.

Award Nomination Criteria
- Fiction published in English for the first time in 2019
- A stand-alone novel – The first book in a new series will be accepted but no sequels.
- The author must be from the UK, Ireland or Channel Islands (we’d like to try and get the winner over for the award ceremony so they can’t be too far away!)
- We are looking for a captivating and engaging new book which you’d be excited to tell your friends about.
